Today one of my clients brought up the new General Motors campaign where they say you can get your money back in the first two months of ownership for any reason at all. I don’t know how this is going to play out, but he was a bit irritated because he started having a transmission problem in the first month and they would not take his car back.

I don’t blame him.

The Ohio lemon law says he gets a new car or his money back if he has a problem in the first year and first 18,000 miles of ownership. Why is he any differnet than the new customers? It does not seem like General Motors has been all that interested in the past with buying back cars with defects under the lemon law so why would they start doing it for no reason now?

Be careful with this campaign. It seems to be leading to trouble, if you ask me.

If General Motors doesn’t come through, then you still have your rights under the lemon law and a lemon law attorney can help you if GM does not do it on their own.
